I am guilty. 🙋‍♀️ I am guilty of trying I am guilty. 🙋‍♀️

I am guilty of trying to be the Perfect Mom, and I know I'm not the only mother out there who has ever felt pressured by society and family members to fit this 'perfect' mold of what a mom 'should' be.

The pressure to deliver our babies naturally without any pain relief, to breastfeed, to whip up delicious baby food, to provide enriching extracurricular activities, to always have a clean home... and on and on it goes.

Has anyone else struggled with the need for approval or to people-please? I know I have, and that stemmed from my own experiences with my mother growing up. It's okay if you struggle with this - so many of us do! But eventually, we all have to make the choice of learning to deal with our need for perfection and approval, not just for our own sakes, but for that of our children too.

The worst thing about trying to live up to this image of the 'Perfect Mom' is that we inadvertently raise kids who also struggle with perfectionism. The sad truth is that perfectionism is contagious, and it's up to us to take our lives back so we can be the women and mothers we always wanted to be. 💕

Now I want to hear from you! What have you felt pressured to do or be as a mom? I'll go first - when I was a young mom, I felt that I had to dress up my daughters and style their hair just-so for church every week, and it wasn't until later that I came to the realization that I was prioritizing the approval of others over my connection with my girls.
